The Problem

Hoist ropes from staggered hitch plates naturally spread as they travel toward the sheave or rope brake. In many installations, this spread exceeds the rope brake jaw clearance, causing:

  • Excessive wear on rope brake pads
  • Premature hoist rope wear
  • Improper rope brake performance

The Rope Align Block™ is installed above the rope shackles and below the rope brake to gather and align the ropes into proper spacing. Each unit is custom-built to match the rope quantity, size, and pitch of the elevator.
